Governor Parkinson Comments on Consensus Revenue Estimates

Statement

Date: Nov. 2, 2010

The following is a statement from Governor Mark Parkinson regarding the Consensus Revenue Estimates released today:

"When looking back at previous Consensus Revenue Estimates over the last year, it is easy to recognize that Kansas has been through some of the most challenges economic times in generations. After three years of unprecedented declining revenue, I am pleased to see that we have turned the corner and revenues are now growing.

"These Consensus Revenue Estimates further confirm what recent economic news is telling us -- the Kansas economy is stabilizing, we are on the road to recovery and we will emerge stronger than before. There may be bumps in our economic recovery, but the next administration and legislature can maintain critical state programs such as education and public safety at current levels if they choose to do so."
